Jacqui Thornton Communications
Media Training

Jacqui offers specialist media training in full day and half day packages. Hard-hitting, insightful and entertaining, these courses are a robust introduction to how journalists work and how to make them work for you.

Courses are bespoke, and tailored for scientists, health professionals, charity workers, and those in the medical research or pharmaceutical sector who are wary of the media but need to talk to journalists.

There are two levels of courses; one training in print and television interviews for people new to media work; and a second, more advanced course with a television cameraman for crisis communications experience, hostile interviewing and down the line appearances. All participants are given fact sheets to take away, along with a DVD of their interviews.

Jacqui’s extensive experience - interviewing Government ministers, company bosses, professors and lawyers, attending complex briefings and writing stories on controversial issues - means she can prepare anyone for a media onslaught.

There is also a special PR Skills Training Day for agencies and press office teams who are more familiar with the media but need some inside knowledge and specialist tips.

Training modules include:

  • Inside a newsroom – how it really works
  • Telephone interview role play
  • How to turn around hostile questioning
  • Get your key messages across
  • Face-to-face filmed interview practice and TV tips
